Extreme fun experience in Iguassu Falls?
There's an extreme fun experience in Iguassu Falls I always recommend to my customers as their personal guide because it involves diverse personal activities like navigating, hiking, rock-climbing, rappelling and zip lining in between giant trees that give visitors a unique opportunity to closely interact with the breath taking beauty of the local jungles and Iguazu River.
Am I fit for doing this?
Worried about getting involved in physically demanding activities you may not be fit to do? At my 50 years of age and having no previous experience I was worried too but now I can tell you, yes, there are extreme sports involved in some activities you will develop but only in a very light and easy manner, designed for beginners and always accompanied by expert instructors that will show you how to do it the safe and easy way and so… there's nothing to worry about, this can be no more than a great introduction to extreme sports for you if you are inexperienced, I personally loved it!
As if this wasn't exciting enough all by itself you will be accompanied by a local jungle-expert that will introduce you to some very interesting knowledge of this rainforest that was inherited from the native Guarani people that lived here long before the Europeans arrived. It's all like reading a National Geographic article but live and with you shooting the pictures!
All this said let's start our extreme fun adventure!
It all starts in the Saint Mary of Iguazu Sanctuary, a sacred and devoted place near the town of Puerto Iguazu, Argetnina, bordering the southern shores of the Iguazu River. As your guide I will personally take you there with my car.
Here are two customers and good friends of mine as we arrived there early in the morning. Our adventure will require some three full hours to finish so it's a good idea to start around 8 am so you are ready for a well deserved lunch by the time you end this extreme fun experience.
Note: remember this adventure goes on in the rainforest so it's absolutely necessary to bring insect repellent to keep the bugs away.
Saint Mary of Iguazu Sanctuary
While we waited for other people to arrive we visited the nearby Sanctuary and amphitheatre where devoted pilgrims arrive from all around Argentine Misiones province.
This particular image quite impressed me, it was carved from tree branches taken from the local rainforest that almost perfectly resemble by themselves the crucified Jesus Christ. Isn't awesome?
A competent specialized guide
Then we were introduced to Lorenzo, a local boy from Puerto Iguazu and advanced college student that will become a bachelor in Philosophy very soon. He was in charge of introducing us into the secrets of the jungle and the Guarani native traditions and knowledge. When a kid he played with his friends in the same rainforest grounds we are going to explore now. He proved to be very knowledgeable and a very interesting person. Great job Lorenzo!
How the Guarani people hunted in this jungle
Here Lorenzo is explaining us the Guarani indigenous hunting techniques. He actually demonstrated us the functioning of different kinds of traps that the natives used to hunt in this jungle. He also demonstrated us how the Guarani's obtained drinking water, ready to eat vegetables and rope building material from the jungle. Boy Scouts and kids in general will love this extreme fun experience.
Hiking the Jungle and Rock Climbing
Here we are hiking the jungle in direction to the Iguazu River, our destination now is the rocky grounds where we will develop our first extreme sport activity: rock climbing!
I was quite nervous then because this was my first experience in this kind of activity.
Once arrived to the activity area an expert instructor coached us in the basics of rock climbing.
As we nervously stared the tall vertical rock wall awaiting for us we were provided of the full professional climbing gear and Linda looks ready for the challenge!
Just to give you an idea of what we were climbing, here's a look from above after I successfully finished my first rock climbing! It might look quite challenging at first but we were all beginners and made it to the top without any problems.
Zip-line crossing between giant jungle trees
There's a fabulous view of the jungle and Iguazu River from this high spot. This is the spot from where we will do our first zip-line crossing. I recommend you put your camera in video mode for this 10 second virtual bird flying extreme fun experience!
Staring how my friends enjoyed the zip-line crossing was also very exciting!
Fallowing we had to climb a hanging latter to reach the top of a giant tree for our zip-line crossing back. One recommendation to climb this latter: use your legs to push yourself up instead of pulling yourself up using your arms, it's much easier this way because your legs are stronger than your arms. Just use your hands to keep the balance.
And there we go back to our starting point.
Rapelling down the cliff
Next is our rappelling activity, for those who don't know what this is, we are going down the same vertical rock wall we climbed before using a rope to hang ourselves down. For the first-timers it's a little scary to trust yourself on a rope but the exciting experience is worth the challenge. It was easy for me so it's easy for anybody.
Boat ride to the Triple Frontier Landmark
Once down we sipped some water, after so much activity we were thirsty! We waited for the rest of our group to finish their activities while watching the magnificent Iguazu River.
This is the motor boat we will use to travel down the Iguazu River all the way to it's confluence with the mighty Parana, the point where the borders of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay meet. Fallowing is a map showing our boat journey with a yellow line.

All on board we start our boat trip!
We navigated under the impressive Tancredo Neves international bridge that connects Argentina and Brazil over the Iguazu River.
We passed beside Puerto Iguazu's pier and towards the Parana River to navigate the Triple Frontier Landmark. Puerto Iguazu's pier is our final destination and my car is wating for us there to transport you back to your hotel or whatever other activity we have planned. It was an amazing extreme fun activity!
