Bart Sangal's Personal Iguassu Falls Itinerary
Hello Bart,
This is your personal Iguassu Falls itinerary that we will develop together from Saturday Aug 2nd to Monday Aug 4th. The first day will be quite easy going on the Brazilian side of the falls but be ready for an intense activity on our second day in the Argentine side!
Since this is a private guiding service our plan is flexible and individual activities can be cancelled or changed according to your preferences once we are together.
The weather during your visit may be cool early in the morning with minimum temperatures ranging in the 10/15 C or 50/59 F. During the day temperatures may rise to 20/25 C or 68/77 F. I suggest wearing long trousers, cotton T-shirt and a sweatshirt during our walks. During the night it cools and you may want to wear a jacket. There is no dry season here and it rains fairly even year round so there's a chance of rainfall during our tours and it's a good idea to bring a light raincoat because we will not cancel our activities because of rain.
I'm including details of the expenses we will incur during our tours so you can anticipate how much money you need to bring. All expenses are considering you are a party of 4 adults.
All this said fallowing are the details of our activities including links to pages in my web-site for in-depth information. Enjoy the virtual tour and let me know your comments!
Sat August 2nd 13:44
I will be picking you up at the Puerto Iguazu airport on August 2 for your arriving 13:44 LAN 4026 flight. Will have two cars to make sure we have enough luggage space.

I will be transporting you to the Tropical das Cataratas in Brazil. On our way there we will be crossing the Tancredo Neves international bridge over the Iguazu River. We will make a short stop there to enjoy the beautiful view and shoot some photos.
The fallowing photo shows an aerial view of the Tropical das Catarats Hotel located inside the Brazilian National Park. It's a charming old-fashioned hotel that oppened its doors back in 1958. I took this picture when flying over the falls on a helicopter.

After your hotel check-in we can start our first adventure,
flying over the falls in helicopter!
This will give you a unique bird's view of the whole Iguassu Falls system made of 275 separated waterfalls. At USD 90 per person it's not cheap but worth every penny and a great opportunity for photo shooting.

We will then return to your hotel and from there start our
walk of the northern shore of the Iguazu River Canyon
inside Brazil's National Park. We will experience different panoramic views of the falls only possible from there. The final destination of our walk will be standing very close to the mammoth Devil's Throat, this is the main waterfall of the Iguassu Falls system.
We return to your hotel. End of my services for the day.
Expenses for this day
Brazil National Park tickets total USD 60 (cash)
Helicopter flight tickets total USD 360 (cash)
Total expenses for the day USD 420.
Sun August 3 9:00 am
I will pick you up at your hotel and transport you to the Argentine National Park to start our activities there by 9:30 am.
We will start our day with an unforgetable walk to the Devil's Throat, this time in the Argentine side and walking a 1.1 km long catwalk over the Upper Iguazu River. The photo below shows the catwalk and the dramatic proximity to the giant waterfall we will experience. There's no words to describe this!

On our way back from Devil's Throat we will raft the Upper Iguazu River to discover the rich flora and fauna of this part of the National Park. It will be a peaceful and quiet journey navigating the Iguazu River delta in between jungle covered islands. We might get to see caimans, turtles, cormorants, snail kites, toucans and much more!

After our walk in the Upper Iguazu River we will be
walking the Upper Trail
that puts us on top of some very important waterfalls of the Iguassu Falls system like the Bossetti and San Martin. This is a short and easy walk.

By the end of this part of our tour we will be hungry and making a short stop for lunch inside the National Park. The raccoons or coatis might want to get our food if we are not careful!

After lunch we will start walking one of my favorite sites in Iguassu Falls.
The Lower Trail
puts us under many of the waterfalls we previously experienced from above and renders some of the most beautiful views of the falls. It only gets better and better as we walk this extraordinary part of the National Park.

At the end of the Lower Trail we will walk down to the bottom of the Iguazu River Canyon and take a motor boat to cross to
San Martin Island
. The island is a giant basalt rock formation covered by the thickest jungle of the National Park permanently bathed by the mist of the surrounding waterfalls. After climbing 159 steps we will explore the island fully. We will experience exceptional proximity to the giant San Martin waterfall (the second largest of the system) and...

...also an isolated hideout of hundreds of vultures. The views from the island are absolutely breath taking!

Towards the end of this extraordinary day we will experience the most exciting and wet part of all our adventures! Back from San Martin we will wait for our turn to board a powerful speedboat that will put you right under the Three Musketeers and San Martin waterfalls. This experience is called
"Baptism in the Falls"
for a good reason, you will get soaked by the soaring waters of the falls!
After the baptism you will speed down 5 km of rapids of the Iguazu River with the giant canyon walls passing by you. Your destination will be Puerto Macuco. There you will get of the boat, walk a stairway and board a 4x4 truck that will transport you through 6 km of deep jungle and back to the Visitor's Center where we started our day. It will be approx. 5 pm and you will be soaked and tired but happy!
We will buy disposable plastic ponchos to keep your tops dry during this adventure. Water tight bags are provided on the spot to keep your personal belongings dry.
Immediately after this I will take you back to your hotel for a deserved rest. End of my services for the day.
Expenses of this day
National Park tickets total USD 64 (cash).
Rights to rafting + speedboat + 4x4 truck ride total USD 193 (credit card).
Lunch inside the National Park approx. USD 35 (credit card).
Total expenses for the day USD 292.
Mon August 4th, 5:00 am
I will pick you up at the Tropical das Cataratas with two cars and transport you to the Foz do Iguacu airport for your TAM 6:25 am 3556 flight. End of my services.
Expenses for this day
My total guiding fee of USD 200 (cash).
