What’s your favorite among Iguassu Falls Restaurants?

Restaurant Table

Our favorite Iguassu Falls restaurants? As a family living in the Iguassu Falls area we usually eat out every weekend and have tried many places. Over time we have found ourselves going back to certain restaurants and eateries.

This isn’t a professional restaurant reviewing. We’ve picked the following restaurants only because we enjoyed eating there as family.

Make your own recommendation. Have you been there as tourist and want to make your own recommendation? Please use the “My favorite Iguassu Restaurant” form at the end of this page to do so.

As you might already know there are three cities surrounding the Iguassu Falls so our recommendations are grouped by city.

PLACES TO EAT IN PUERTO IGUAZU, ARGENTINA

Argentina is known for good cooking and eating and this is not surprising since it is a country with a rich European cuisine tradition and blessed with one of the worlds most productive lands.

Tio Querido Grill Iguassu Falls restaurants pick # 1: Tio Querido Restaurant and Grill

In Downtown Puerto Iguazu, we discovered this restaurant asking locals where they prefer to eat meat in Puerto Iguazu. The common Argentinean is a true gourmet and a reliable adviser when it’s about recommending where to eat meat or any other kind of food.

Tio Querido Family Ambience Tio Querido is not among five star Iguassu Falls restaurants, no fancy decoration nor luxury, just the good old casual family atmosphere where you feel comfortable going with your kids.

But we are here for the meat, aren’t we? And that’s what this restaurant delivers: tender, well done and delicious meat dishes prepared and roasted by a professional griller in the pure Argentinean tradition.

This restaurant grills only the best Argentine beef brought in directly from Santa Fe province known by locals as the best cattle raising region of the country.

My favorite dish here is “Bife de Chorizo a la Pimienta”, that’s a deliciously pepper spiced roasted beef.

If you are in the mood for a spectacular portion of the best meat cut then your choice could be the famous “Baby Beef”, a popular Argentina foods classic

That’s a cube-formed half a kilo or 1.1 pounds of butter-tender grilled meat that melts in your mouth. This generous dish is frequently shared among two or three fellow diners. My wife and I couldn’t finish one together but it all depends on your “meat-eating-capacity”. I’ve seen an American tourist eat this dish all by himself in a few minutes; he really enjoyed it and went happily back to the hotel for a good nap!

If you want a more discreet portion of mouth watering meat try “Lomo Grille”. If your partner doesn't want to share a "baby beef" with you this is the individual right size of the most delicious meat you will ever eat!

Tio Querido’s wine cellar is a treasury of the best Argentinean wines. If you want to try an excellent red wine without going bankrupt I recommend “San Felipe Tinto” a wine from the Province of Salta with a water-drop formed bottle.

We accompanied our meat with an Argentine traditional “ensalada mixta” that’s a salad made of lettuce, tomatoes and onions spiced with salt, olive oil and vinegar.

Tio Querido's average dish price? USD 8. Could you eat this kind of food in Europe or the US for this money?

La Rueda Restaurant Iguassu Falls restaurants pick # 2: La Rueda

We know Argentineans have a strong Italian influence in their cooking and eating habits so we asked locals where they go to eat pastas. We confirmed La Rueda is truly one of the best among Iguassu Falls restaurants for eating these Italian delicacies. Meanwhile we also discovered they also serve excellent fish dishes.

What dishes do we recommend?

La Rueda Enjoying our food We loved Roquefort (Blue cheese) garnished meat raviolis and it comes in a very generous portion that made me jealous of my son Pablo.

Another good one is jam and cheese stuffed cannelloni, but only two cannelloni on each plate left me wanting more!

My daughter picked a Surubi dish (that’s a common fish from the Parana River) with a curious name “Surubi Nevado” or Snowed Surubi. It’s deliciously garnished with a white colored sauce and accompanied with mashed potatoes. We all ended eating on her dish, it was great!

La Rueda Wine Cellar This restaurant also has a great wine cellar. We picked a wonderful Argentinean white wine this time, Etchart Privado Torrontes.

Adding it all up, we think this “Iguassu Falls restaurants” pick is a winner in all aspects and very affordable too. Beautiful rustic wood decoration, well served tables and a good waiter service. Be sure you don’t seat on front of the air conditioning outlet though or you will freeze. We had to move to another table and felt so embarrassed!

La Rueda's average dish price USD 10. Can you believe it?

PLACES TO EAT IN CIUDAD DEL ESTE, PARAGUAY

Continuing with our Iguassu Falls restaurants review but this time on the other side of the Parana River, did somebody say there are no good dining places in Ciudad del Este? This city has some of the best Iguassu Falls restaurants and prices are absolutely the lowest of the region. So, if you want to eat out good and the cheapest this is the city to go.

Iguassu Falls restaurants pick # 1: El Puerto

This is our Iguassu Falls restaurants pick for eating delicious sea-food Spanish style dishes.

The owner and chef of this restaurant in Downtown Ciudad del Este is Luis Pizarro, a Spanish man from Bilbao and it’s not surprising since Ciudad del Este is home to people from around the world.

El Puerto Spanish Tavern in Ciudad del Este This restaurant is decorated resembling a typical harbor tavern of the Bilbao port. The walls are an exhibition of signature T-shirts from famous Spanish football teems that give the place an interesting ambience. It happens with Luis he is a football fan, an “Atletico Bilbao” fanatic and a long time collector of these items. But his other love is cooking…

Obviously his specialty is Spanish sea-food cuisine.

What dish do we suggest?

Luis bringing our Paella Paella, Luis most famous specialty!

Having a nice time in El Puerto This is a saffron flavored dish made with rice, vegetables and seafood including delicious oysters, octopus, shrimps and chopped fish. This dish comes in a large frying pan steaming with inviting aromas, it’s not only delicious it’s also a feast for the eyes! Two to four diners can share this dish depending on your appetite.

El Puerto's average dish price USD 5. We think it’s impossible to eat this kind of quality food for less.

Pizza y Cia Iguassu Falls restaurants pick # 2: Pizza y Compañía

This is our Iguassu Falls restaurants pick for eating the most delicious pizzas in the entire Iguassu Falls region. If you are fond for pizzas and like the thin crusted, cheese super-charged type of pizza this is the place to go!

Pizza y Compania family ambience This restaurant is among the most visited by Ciudad del Este’s families and the reason is simple: the best pizzas at a very afordable price in a family friendly ambience.

Pizza y Cia watching the cook We like staring the “pizza experts” doing their job through the glassed window that shows the kitchen to diners and it makes you feel sure everything is neat and clean in there. No doubt, this restaurant is 100% professional.

There are more than 100 different varieties of pizzas to pick from and you can order two different dressings in one large pizza.

We usually order two medium size 6 portions pizzas for four diners. The large size ones are 8 portions. Optionally you can order any variety of pizza with cheese stuffed border (“borde relleno” in Spanish).

Want to know our favorite pizza dressings?

Menu option # 17 Aji Pizza y Cia. This pizza is loaded with toasted garlic, muzzarella cheese and tomato sauce. If you like the taste of garlic you'll love this one!

Menu option # 7. Cuaque Pizza y Cia. This one comes with four different kinds of cheese: Muzzarrella, Catigini, Provolone and Parmesano with tomato sauce and marjoram. It's absolutely delicious!

Menu option # 4. Napoli Pizza y Cia. This one is an Italian classic with muzzarella, fresh tomato slices, marjoram and tomato sauce.

Pizza y Cia. average price of large sized pizzas USD 7.

A four member family ordering 2 medium sized pizzas and a large softdrink can eat for only USD 14, unbelievable!
